Tomasz Sikora to artysta, który od lat udowadnia, że fotografię reportażową można z powodzeniem łączyć z pracą dla gigantów świata mody i firm reklamowych. To co bowiem, co decyduje o jakości zdjęcia to jego autentyczność i wizja, która pozwala uchwycić niezwykłość w codzienności.
W poszukiwaniu tego co wyjątkowe, Sikora wędruje z aparatem po świecie od ponad 30 lat. Tajniki sztuki fotografowania poznawał podczas rocznej praktyki w paryskim studiu Kodaka. Już wtedy dostrzeżono jego wyjątkową zdolność zatrzymywania w kadrze ulotnych obrazów rzeczywistości. Z wędrówek po ulicach Paryża przywiózł do Polski kilka tysięcy pełnych barw slajdów, które otworzyły mu drogę do kariery reporterskiej w Tygodniku Ilustrowanym Perspektywy. Z magazynem współpracował przez blisko 10 lat. Jednocześnie tworzył zdjęcia do kalendarzy LOT i FSO stawiając pierwsze kroki na polu fotografii reklamowej. W tym okresie powstał również jeden z jego najbardziej rozpoznawalnych projektów „Alicja w krainie Czarów” - cykl czarno-białych fotografii kolorowanych aerografem.
W 1982 roku, nie widząc dalszej możliwości rozwoju w ogarniętej stanem wojennym Polsce wyjechał do Australii, gdzie prowadził warsztaty w Victorian Collage of Arts i sukcesywnie rozwijał swój warsztat zarówno w obszarze fotografii reklamowej, jak również artystycznej. Od połowy lat dziewięćdziesiątych swój prywatny czas dzieli pomiędzy Polskę i Australię, natomiast jego działalność fotograficzna nabrała prawdziwie międzynarodowego charakteru.
W 1982 roku, nie widząc dalszej możliwości rozwoju w ogarniętej stanem wojennym Polsce wyjechał do Australii, gdzie prowadził warsztaty w Victorian Collage of Arts i sukcesywnie rozwijał swój warsztat zarówno w obszarze fotografii reklamowej, jak również artystycznej. Od połowy lat dziewięćdziesiątych swój prywatny czas dzieli pomiędzy Polskę i Australię, natomiast jego działalność fotograficzna nabrała prawdziwie międzynarodowego charakteru.
Patrząc na twórczość Sikory trudno oprzeć się wrażeniu, że mamy do czynienia z artystą wszechstronnym. Obok niezwykle sugestywnych i oryginalnych projektów reklamowych zajmuje się fotografią dla takich gigantów świata mody, jak Giorgio Armani, Yohji Yamamoto, czy Prada, a wystawy jego prac można oglądać w Europie, Azji, USA i Australii. Sikora wspólnie z Andrzejem Świetlikiem jest również pomysłodawcą Galerii Bezdomnej – pojawiającej się nieoczekiwanie w różnych miejscach ekspozycji zdjęć różnych twórców.
Jak sam mówi, fotografia jest dla niego nieustannym poszukiwaniem, w którym nie ma granic, pod warunkiem, ze fotograf sam ich sobie nie wyznacza. W pracach Sikory urzeka fascynacja barwą, która jest w stanie ożywić najbardziej nawet zwyczajny element codzienności i nadać mu niezwykły charakter. Capturing reality in the frame
Tomasz Sikora is an artist who has proven for years that reportage photography can be successfully combined with work for giants in the fashion world and advertising companies. What determines the quality of a photograph is its authenticity and vision, which allows it to capture the extraordinary in everyday life.
In search of the exceptional, Sikora has been wandering the world with his camera for over 30 years. He learned the secrets of photography during a year-long internship at Kodak's Paris studio. Even then, his exceptional ability to capture fleeting images of reality was recognized. From his wanderings through the streets of Paris, he brought back to Poland several thousand vibrant slides, which paved the way for his journalistic career at the Tygodnik Ilustrowany Perspektywy magazine. He worked with the magazine for nearly 10 years. At the same time, he created photographs for LOT and FSO calendars, taking his first steps in the field of advertising photography. During this period, he also created one of his most recognizable projects, "Alice in Wonderland," a series of black-and-white photographs colored with an airbrush.
In 1982, seeing no further opportunities for development in Poland, which was under martial law, he moved to Australia, where he led workshops at the Victorian College of Arts and gradually developed his skills in both advertising and fine art photography. Since the mid-1990s, he has divided his private time between Poland and Australia, and his photographic activity has taken on a truly international character.
Looking at Sikora's work, it's hard to resist the impression that we are dealing with a versatile artist. In addition to his incredibly evocative and original advertising projects, he has photographed for such fashion giants as Giorgio Armani, Yohji Yamamoto, and Prada, and exhibitions of his work can be seen in Europe, Asia, the USA, and Australia. Together with Andrzej Świetlik, Sikora is also the founder of the Homeless Gallery, a collection of photographs by various artists that appears unexpectedly in various venues. As he himself says, photography is a constant quest for him, one that knows no boundaries, provided the photographer doesn't set any for himself. Sikora's works are captivated by a fascination with color, which can enliven even the most ordinary elements of everyday life and imbue them with an extraordinary character. They also reveal an uncanny ability to capture a whole range of emotions, impressions, and experiences within a single frame. Życiorys - Curriculum Vitae
Urodzony w 1948 roku w Warszawie w rodzinie artystycznej. Matka była malarką, ojciec znanym rzeźbiarzem.
W wieku 20 lat wyjechał na rok do Paryża gdzie zajął się poważnie.
Po powrocie do Polski przez 10 lat pracował jako fotoreporter dla tygodnika ilustrowanego Perspektywy.
W tym czasie współpracował także z czołowymi polskimi grafikami tworząc plakaty teatralne i filmowe.
W 1979 zrealizowal 2 duże projekty fotograficzne: „Album” i „Alicja w Krainie Czarów”, które były surrealistyczną wizją świata i w 1980 roku zostały wystawione w Muzeum Sztuki Współczesnej w Centrum Pompidou w Paryżu na wystawie Biennale Młodych.
Zaczął wtedy wystawiać także w innych krajach Europy i w USA. W 1982 roku wyjechał do Australii, gdzie prowadził warsztaty fotograficzne w Victorian College of the Arts.
Następnie założył studio fotografii reklamowej oraz kontynuował swoją działalność artystyczną.
Od 1986 roku intensywnie podróżuje po świecie.
Od 1996 roku dzieli swoje życie pomiędzy Polskę i Australię. Obecnie znowu mieszka w Warszawie. Był wielokrotnie nagradzany za kreatywność w fotografii Do dzisiaj publikuje limitowane edycje swoich książek autorskich ( 65 ) oraz wystawia swoje prace na świecie.
Od 1999 roku pracuje nad projektem Przejrzystość Rzeczy, wystawianym już dziesięciokrotnie i nieustannie uzupełnianym o nowe prace. Pierwsza wystawa miała miejsce w Centrum Sztuki Współczesnej w Warszawie.
W 2001 roku powołal do życia, wraz z Andrzejem Świetlikiem, Galerię Bezdomną promującą w wielu krajach fotografię niezależną.
Od 2002 roku uczy fotografii w różnych szkołach w Warszawie.
Od 2006 realizuje projekt „Fotografia ruchoma“. Są to krótkie filmiki animowane oparte na fotografii . Powstały trzy cykle: „Pan Jajo“ , „Kobieta“ , oraz „Usłyszane w ciszy“.
Jesienią 2008 roku wydawnictwo Znak wydało album „ Tomek Sikora - Światłoczuły“ zawierający kilkaset fotografii oraz kilkadziesiąt anegdot Tomka Sikory.
Lata 2009 – 2010 to praca nad albumem „Chopin. Nastroje kompozytora w fotograficznych obrazach Tomka Sikory“.
W roku 2011 wydaje albumy : „Męskie granie“, „Album“, „Genius Loci“ oraz książeczkę dla dzieci „ Bajko-Nurki “, która powstała w grupie kilkunastu tworców, a także 365 stronicowy kalendarz na zawsze „Twarzowa kolekcja“.
2012 rok to uwieńczenie 7 lat pracy nad 390 stronicowym albumem o metrze paryskim, "213 km. pod Paryskim brukiem".
W 2014 roku twydaje albumy: ,,Cztery po roku" w którym pokazuje Polskę swoich marzeń, ,, Flow" ,,Minął wiek “ oraz ,,Istanbul – street photography“.
2015 rok to kontynuacja fotografii ulicznej I filmów o życiu ulicy.
We współpracy z FujiFilm wydaje albumy Tribute to Colours, Dysharmonia, Jesteśmy, Aix-En-Provence.
W 2018 Agora publikuje wywiad Doroty Wodeckiej ilustrowany zdjęciami w książce KAPITALNIE.

Biography
Tomek Sikora was born in 1948 in Warsaw, Poland, of a painter mother and a sculptor father. In his twenties he travelled to Paris where
he took seriously to photography. After coming back to Poland in 1971 he worked as a photojournalist for the next ten years and in the meantime cooperated with major Polish graphic designers in creating film and theatre posters.
In 1979 he realised two big projects: „Album” and „Alice in Wonderland”. They were two photographic series of surreal vision of the world
and in 1980 were presented at the Biennale de Jeunesse in Paris at The Museum of Modern Art in the Pompidou Centre.
From then on Tomek started exhibiting extensively in Europe and USA.
In 1982 he migrates to Australia and conducts workshops in photography at the Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne.
Then he establishes a studio of advertising photography there and continues his activity in the area of art photography.

Since 1999 he has been working on his project Transparency of Things which has been exhibited seven times and is continuously enriched with new works. The very first exhibition of this project took place at the Centre of Contemporary Arts in Warsaw.
In 2001, together with Andrzej Świetlik, Tomek Sikora created Homeless Gallery which promotes independent photography in many countries.
Since 2002 he teaches at various photographic colleges in Warsaw.
Since 2006 he has created a series called “Moving Photography”, short films based on animated photography. Three series have been made so far:“ The Eggman “, “The Woman“ and “ Heard in Silence “.
In the autumn of 2008 Znak publishing house published a photographic album “Światłoczuły“ (Light Sensitive) comprising hundreds of photographs and numerous anecdotes by Tomek Sikora related to his photographic career.
The years 2009 – 2010 are devoted to his work on the latest album “Chopin". The composer’s moods in photographic images of Tomek Sikora“ in which he shows the Poland of Chopin's dreams.
In 2011 Tomek Sikora publishes the following albums: “ Męskie Granie ”, “ Album ” and “ Genius Loci ” as well as 365 page calendar entitled “ Facial Collection ” and a children’s book “ Bajkonurki ” which has been created by a group of twelve photographers during a workshop.
In 2012 he completed a 390 paged album entitled “213 km under Paris Streets” after 7 years of work.
His projects in 2014 – 2015 are the albums “Four Seasons”, “A Sentury Passed”, “Istanbul – Street Photography” “ Sao Paulo - Street photography” and short films about street life.
In cooperation with FujiFilm, he releases the albums Tribute to Colors, Dysharmonia, We are, Aix-En-Provence.
In 2018, Agora publishes an interview with Dorota Wodecka, illustrated with photos in the book "Kapitalnie".
